Additionally, he expressed his support for Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, whom he “likes personally.” However, he believes that the senator should not seek re-election in Washington. Instead, he must pursue a campaign to become the next governor of Florida.
According to Morgan, “I believe [Nelson] should run for governor. He is the Dem’s best chance and he would be happier there.” He added, “In the Senate he accomplishes nothing. As governor he could have a legacy.”
Furthermore, Morgan said, “The Dems have little if no chance of taking the majority. Why sit on the back bench. I would urge him [referring to Sen. Nelson] to be bold.
Moreover, he suggested that former Tallahassee Rep. Gwen Graham should run for the U.S. Senate. She is currently seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for governor. Three other Democrats declared their candidacies for governor including Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Winter Park businessman Chris King, and former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine.
