Meanwhile, in a statement to CNN, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Indianapolis Office said the shooter’s mother contacted law enforcement in March 2020. She expressed her fear that his son might attempt to “commit suicide by cop.” 

At the time, the IMPD placed Hole on an immediate detention mental health emergency. The police department also confiscated a shotgun at his residence, according to FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Paul Keenan in the statement.  

Keenan also stated that the FBI interviewed Hole in April 2020. He said, No Racially Motivated Violent Extremism (RMVE) ideology was identified during the course of the assessment and no criminal violation was found, The shotgun was not returned to the suspect.”
