Furthermore, the governor said he was shocked to see that there are residents in New York State subjected to such conditions.
“On behalf of the people of the state, I apologize to the NYCHA residents because they deserve better and they’ll get better,” said Gov. Cuomo.
On the other hand, Commissioner Zucker, commented, “NYCHA residents deserve safe and habitable housing.” However, the conditions at Jackson Houses “simply do not qualify.”
Additionally, Zucker stressed that exposure to lead, mold, and pest can have serious and lasting health effects.
“My team at the Department of Health stands ready to conduct further investigations…,” he said.
