The big shift to cloud computing
Rometty said there are “different paces of investment” when it comes to cloud computing, which is the delivery of different services through the Internet. These resources include tools and applications like data storage, servers, databases, networking, and software.
IBM announced last month that it will separate the managed infrastructure services unit of its global technology services division into a new public company.
The company said it will push to become more focused on cloud software and solutions through the separation.
Rometty said IBM is focused on the so-called “hybrid cloud” technology that combines private and public cloud services and provides companies more flexibility around the services they require.
