Yesterday, McCarthy visited the White House in commemoration of the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act’s signing. At some point, the media asked McCarthy about the January 6 commission and Pelosi’s GOP picks for the group. Following these inquiries, McCarthy referred to “Liz and Adam” as “Pelosi Republicans.”
Later, McCarthy stated that he doesn’t really discuss the events of January 6. When asked if Cheney and Kinzinger will face political consequences for accepting Pelosi’s request, McCarthy said time will tell.
Responses from Cheney and Kinzinger
Shortly after the House Minority Leader’s remarks, the media sought out Reps. Cheney and Kinzinger for their responses.
Cheney described the “Pelosi Republicans” jab as “childish.” She then noted that there is work to be done.
Kinzinger gave remarks similar in nature to the media. The House Republican stated that McCarthy’s name-calling was “childish”; he also made a point of noting that as the leader of House Republicans, McCarthy should be above these types of remarks.
