Kerch Bridge symbol of Russian occupation

Ukraine has expanded its successful counteroffensive and continues to poke the Russian bear.

An explosion has severely damaged the bridge connecting Crimea to the Russian mainland. The structure was the key military supply link to Crimea. And it has been a hated symbol of the 2014 Russian occupation of the region.

The latest military humiliation took place Saturday. A large-scale explosion heavily damaged the Kerch Bridge that links occupied Crimea with Russia. Although the strategic bombing will not permanently disrupt critical Russian supply lines to Crimea, it will create some logistical problems for Moscow.

This road and railway bridge has been a vital link in Russia’s supply chain. Even a temporary shutdown will make it harder for Moscow to send troops and equipment to repel Ukraine’s offensive north of Kherson.
