According to Persico, the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith informed Poulson about his laicization on March 5.
“Mr. Poulson has been removed from the clerical state. He is forbidden to function as a priest in the Catholic Church and should no longer present himself as a priest and not be admitted as a priest in the celebration of the sacraments,” said Persico in a statement.
Poulson is serving his sentence at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill near Harrisburg.
