In today's world, the ways in which people work are changing. The rise of remote work is the most apparent standard for growing numbers of individuals.

In 2022, many people are finding themselves working from home or from different locations around the world, rather than in office cubicles.

COVID significantly led to an uptick in remote work; however, even before the infamous virus, remote work, freelancing, the gig economy, etc., remained on the rise.

As people work remotely in different settings, they often use various apps to maintain contact, hold meetings, and otherwise remain in the loop on projects. Some commonly used work apps include Upwork, Trello, Slack, etc.

Earlier today, some issues with Slack created problems for many businesses and workers.

Reviewing the temporary Slack outage on Tuesday

During mid-Tuesday morning, Slack and several other similar apps suffered outages. It didn't take long for reports of these outages to appear on Down Detector or for people to take to social media to note their troubles.

Shortly after the outages began, the Slack status page posted a notice about the situation. Slack confirmed to users they were reviewing the problem; however, it still remains unknown what caused these temporary outages.

By the time early Tuesday afternoon rolled around, issues with Slack appeared to decrease.

The future of business

Remote work, freelancing, and other forms of employment that are "non-traditional" are very much the future of business. Already, some companies are beginning to incorporate the use of artificial intelligence.

The rise of artificial intelligence has introduced questions about whether some workers will get automated out of employment; however, proponents of AI note that people will be able to work with machines as time passes.

Other businesses are realizing that hiring freelancers is more cost-effective and beneficial than hiring employees.

As the way people work changes, access to apps like Slack will remain crucial. Remote work inherently relies upon the use of technology in order for everyone to remain on the same page.

It also makes a substantial difference in workers being able to stay on task, maximize productivity, and ultimately get the job done.
