Haynes and Boone LLP has reinforced its West Coast litigation division by welcoming Elizabeth Weldon, a seasoned franchise expert from Snell & Wilmer LLP, as a partner in its Orange County office.

Weldon, with a remarkable 21-year tenure at Snell & Wilmer, boasts a specialization in franchise and distribution law. However, her legal repertoire extends to handling diverse facets of commercial and business litigation. Her expertise encompasses areas such as breach of contract, tort, unfair competition, class action, and intellectual property disputes.

In a recent interview, Weldon revealed that her journey to Haynes Boone was set in motion by a call from Deb Coldwell, a franchise litigation partner at Haynes Boone in Dallas. The two legal luminaries share a long-standing connection, having collaborated through the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising. Coldwell formerly chaired this forum, a role now undertaken by Weldon.

Weldon expressed her admiration for Haynes Boone's robust franchise and distribution practice, which spans both litigation and regulatory domains. Her first impressions of the firm were overwhelmingly positive, including a warm reception from colleagues and staff.

Weldon's foray into law was influenced by her upbringing, hailing from a family with a legacy of legal professionals, particularly her father, a prominent water-rights attorney based in Phoenix. She completed her law degree in 2001 from William & Mary Law School following her undergraduate studies in classics and anthropology at the University of Arizona.

Her legal career commenced as an associate at Mariscal Weeks McIntyre & Friedlander PA, later progressing to Snell & Wilmer in 2002. Weldon's early ambitions of becoming an environmental attorney evolved during her association with franchise-related cases. Her work with franchisors, coupled with her involvement with the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising, gradually solidified her commitment to this field. Over two decades, she honed her practice, representing franchisors in various litigation matters.
