Attorneys for Titania Davenport, the mother of late rapper Takeoff, and the property owners involved in a wrongful death lawsuit have informed a Texas judge they are close to resolving a dispute over documents outlining the rapper’s estate value at the time of his death.
Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Tiquon Ball, was fatally shot on Nov. 1, 2022, outside 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston. Davenport filed the wrongful death suit in June 2023, which has since been consolidated with claims from two others injured in the shooting.
The dispute centers on the production of financial documents, including Takeoff’s tax returns, estate records, and life insurance information. The defendants, including property owners Lionstone Partners LLC and LVA4 Houston Greenstreet LP, previously claimed Davenport had not responded to several requests for information.
Mark M. Appling, representing the defendants, told Harris County District Judge Sonya Aston on Monday that an agreement was nearly reached after Davenport’s attorney provided additional financial documents last week. The information is needed to assess the potential loss of inheritance.
