WASHINGTON, DC - Former FBI Director Christopher Wray’s denials about Jan. 6 infiltration have officially collapsed. The FBI has now admitted it deployed 274 plainclothes agents in the crowds at the Capitol—a disclosure that flatly contradicts Wray’s sworn testimony before Congress in July 2023.

Under oath, Wray told Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) he “did not believe” any undercover FBI agents were present on Jan. 6. He added:

“I’m not sure there were undercover agents on scene. As I sit here right now, I do not believe there were undercover agents on.”

That statement, already contradicted by the former Capitol Police Chief and records from the Washington, D.C. FBI Field Office, is now shredded by the Bureau’s own admission.

The timing is critical: James Comey, Wray’s predecessor, was indicted on Sept. 25, 2025, for lying under oath. Legal experts note that Wray’s testimony is now under the same legal microscope, with perjury under 18 U.S.C. §1621 carrying the possibility of felony charges.

• Proud Boys: Recent filings revealed at least 40 government CHS agents were working undercover on Jan. 6.
• Proud Boys Informants: In Nov. 2022, the FBI admitted to 8 informants inside the Proud Boys, with likely more unreported.
• Oath Keepers: In Sept. 2022, the DOJ disclosed that FBI operatives and CHS were embedded in the group, admitting the fact only after defense counsel pressed during trial prep.

These revelations were not speculative. They were admissions in court documents and government letters—facts that directly contradict the narrative presented to Congress and the public.

The Pattern of Deception

This pattern matches what USA Herald previously reported: federal, state, and local operatives were documented infiltrating Jan. 6 crowds across at least 20 confirmed incidents. While the DOJ sought convictions in what defense attorneys called a “Kangaroo Court” environment, prosecutors withheld or minimized disclosure of CHS infiltration until trials were already underway.

The steady drip of disclosures—8 Proud Boys informants, 40 CHS operatives, Oath Keepers infiltration, and now 274 plainclothes FBI agents—illustrates a systemic attempt to obscure the scale of government involvement.

The Indictment Question

Comey’s indictment broke the dam: former FBI leaders can no longer assume immunity when caught lying under oath. If prosecutors conclude Wray’s testimony was knowingly false, his case may follow the same trajectory.

• Penalty: Up to five years imprisonment.
