A Tragic Night Outside the Dakota

The documentary recounts how Lennon, 40, was gunned down outside the Dakota, his Manhattan apartment building, on December 8, 1980. His killer, Mark David Chapman, had traveled from Hawaii with a cold and calculated plan to take the legendary musician’s life. Standing outside the Dakota as Lennon returned home with Yoko Ono, Chapman carried out his attack — then shockingly remained at the scene reading The Catcher in the Rye until police arrived.
