Nuclear reactor developer X-energy Reactor Company LLC announced Monday the successful close of a $700 million Series D funding round, signaling investor confidence in the company’s vision for the future of advanced nuclear energy.
Oversubscribed Funding Round Led by Jane Street
The oversubscribed round was spearheaded by Jane Street, with participation from new investors including ARK Invest, Galvanize, Hood River Capital Management, Point72, Reaves Asset Management, and XTX Ventures. Existing backers such as Ares Management, Corner Capital, Emerson Collective, NGP, and Segra Capital Management also joined the financing.
Advised by Latham & Watkins LLP, X-energy said the proceeds will bolster its supply chain and commercial pipeline, supporting an order book exceeding 11 gigawatts—enough to power 144 advanced small modular reactors (SMRs).
Founder Highlights Vision for Accessible Nuclear Energy
Executive Chairman and founder Kam Ghaffarian emphasized the round’s significance:
“The response and commitment from the participants in this financing round is a strong affirmation of the role X-energy expects to play in shaping the future of energy,” he said. “With the support of our investors, both new and existing, we are closer to realizing that vision.”
