The incident occurred on Delta Flight 478, roughly 30 minutes before landing at Portland International Airport last Friday. What began as a standard cross-country trip quickly shifted into a scene of urgency as medical reality collided with cruising altitude.

Delta Air Lines confirmed that the baby was delivered onboard, crediting the swift response of its flight crew along with a doctor and two nurses who happened to be among the passengers.

In a statement, the airline expressed gratitude for those who stepped in, saying the health and safety of passengers remains the highest priority. The flight carried 153 passengers and four crew members when the emergency unfolded.

Audio recordings from the flight, shared via Broadcastify, captured the urgency in real time, with a crew member announcing that the baby had been delivered onboard and preparations were underway for arrival assistance.
