Three people were shot across several locations in Akron’s North Hill neighborhood late April 27 in a string of violent episodes that police believe are connected, according to the Akron Police Department.

Authorities said all victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but the spread of gunfire across streets and time has left investigators treating the night like a single unfolding puzzle with scattered pieces across the neighborhood.

First Shooting: Vehicle Targeted on Carlysle Street

The first incident unfolded just after 8 p.m. in the 800 block of Carlysle Street.

Officers arrived to find a 24-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds to his arm and chest. Emergency responders transported him to Summa Health Akron for treatment.

The victim told investigators he was inside a vehicle when shots suddenly erupted. A 17-year-old male passenger in the same vehicle was not struck, though he was later taken to the hospital for an unrelated medical concern.

At the scene, detectives recovered multiple shell casings, and investigators also found that two nearby homes had been hit by bullets—suggesting the gunfire sprayed beyond its intended target.

Second Victim Appears Miles Away Near North Howard Street

A short time later, a 20-year-old woman showed up at Summa Health Akron with a gunshot wound to her foot.

She told police she had been walking near North Howard Street and East Tallmadge Avenue when she heard gunfire and was struck. A friend transported her to the hospital.

The timing and proximity of the incidents added another thread to what investigators now believe is a connected chain of shootings rather than isolated events.

Third Shooting Discovered Inside Home on Alfaretta Avenue

Around 10 p.m., a third victim—a 17-year-old boy—was found injured inside his home on Alfaretta Avenue.

Police said the teen’s mother discovered him with a gunshot wound to the neck and immediately called for help. He was taken to Summa Health Akron for treatment.

Like the earlier victims, his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Police: Incidents Connected, No Broader Threat Identified

Investigators say they have not identified any suspects and continue to work the case, but believe the three shootings are related.

Despite the violence unfolding across multiple locations like a spreading ripple in still water, police emphasized they do not believe the public is facing an ongoing threat.

Earlier Shooting Adds Context to Neighborhood Tension

The April 27 shootings come days after another violent episode in the same North Hill area.

On April 24, two 14-year-old boys were shot while sitting on a front porch of a home on West Salome Avenue near Carlysle Street. Both were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital. One was shot in the chest, the other in the pelvic area.

Police previously said those injuries were also non-life-threatening and described that case as isolated, with no continuing danger to the community.

Now, with three more victims and overlapping locations, investigators are working to determine whether the violence represents a broader pattern or a series of linked encounters that escalated across one tense night in Akron’s North Hill.
