Acclaimed actress Angela Bassett, best known for her roles in films like "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" and "What's Love Got to Do With It?", is finally going to receive her well-deserved Oscar.

This overdue recognition comes as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences made their announcement on Monday.

Angela Bassett, along with comedic titan Mel Brooks and the esteemed editor Carol Littleton, will receive an honorary Academy Award.

Angela Bassett Oscar :Career of Dedication and Impact

Holding a celebrated career that spans across decades, Angela Bassett has consistently delivered stellar performances.

These groundbreaking roles have time and again set new benchmarks in acting.

Her two nominations in the past, including one for the coveted Best Supporting Actress at the 2023 Oscars, highlight her enormous contribution to Hollywood.

However, the Oscars eluded Bassett, despite her significant contributions.

Critics and fans alike labeled the snub as a grand theft of recognition.

Yet, her career was never about the accolades, it was about the art.

Bassett's nuanced portrayals of cultural icons like Rosa Parks and her emotionally charged role in the Marvel saga served as proof of her acting prowess.

Angela Bassett Oscar : A Well-deserved Honor

The Academy's Board of Governors expressed their exhilaration at the opportunity to honor Angela Bassett, an actress who has redefined the landscape of Hollywood and inspired countless generations of filmmakers and movie fans.

Academy President Janet Yang stated, "Across her decades-long career, Angela Bassett has continued to deliver transcendent performances that set new standards in acting."

Alongside these film industry stalwarts, Michelle Satter, Sundance Institute's founding director, will receive this year's Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

These honorary winners will take the stage at the Academy's Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, Nov. 18, ahead of the 2024 Oscars ceremony next March on ABC. A constellation of stars will be in attendance to witness this monumental moment in Angela Bassett's career.
