Sophia Hutchins, a close friend and longtime manager of Caitlyn Jenner, tragically died in an ATV crash in Malibu on July 2, according to multiple news outlets.

The 29-year-old entrepreneur and Pepperdine University graduate was riding a 2013 Polaris four-wheeler in the Malibu mountains near Jenner’s home when the fatal accident occurred.

Details of ATV Crash

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Hutchins’ ATV struck the back of a 2016 Mazda sedan. The impact caused her to veer off the road and plunge 350 feet down into a ravine. She was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

“It looked like she tried to maneuver to go around it, but she was going too fast and ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda,” said Sgt. Eduardo Saucedo. “That caused her to go off the cliff.”

Malibu/Lost Hills Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo added that there were two uninjured females in the car. "I think she just came up on them and then hit the car."

The ATV remains at the bottom of the ravine, since local tow companies have not been able to retrieve it.

Remembering Sophia Hutchins

Sophia Hutchins first met Caitlyn Jenner during a M.A.C. photo shoot through a mutual friend, Jenner’s makeup artist. Their bond quickly deepened.

“Having a similar sense of humor, we spent the entire time laughing,” Hutchins said in a 2019 interview with The New York Times. “We’ve been great friends ever since.”

When Jenner needed professional help, Hutchins stepped in as manager.

“She is my best friend, family, and confidant,” Jenner said in 2019. “Her value in my life is undeniable.”

Jenner, now 75, shared with outlets that she is “navigating tough times” but chose not to speak further about the loss.
