A minivan-sized submersible, with a carefully selected crew of five, including renowned explorer Hamish Harding and a wealthy Pakistani father-son duo, has been reported missing during a voyage to examine the world's most infamous shipwreck, the Titanic.

Onboard were British adventurer Hamish Harding, Pakistani tycoon Shahzada Dawood, his son Sulaiman, seasoned French diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and an unidentified pilot.

As of now, contact with the underwater vehicle has been lost and detailed information remains scant, causing deep concern amongst family, friends, and colleagues.

Who Is Hamish Harding?

An impressive array of extreme expeditions credit Hamish Harding's name.

From serving as the chairman of the United Arab Emirates-based Action Aviation, breaking the world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe via both poles in 2019, to being one of the pioneers to dive to Challenger Deep, the deepest point in the world's oceans, Harding's ventures defy traditional boundaries.

His exploits also involve successful missions to the South Pole, once in 2016 with astronaut Buzz Aldrin, making him the oldest person to reach the site, and later in 2020 with his son Giles, who became the youngest to set foot on the spot.

Hamish Harding :Prior to Disappearance

Prior to the ill-fated expedition, Hamish Harding expressed his exhilaration on social media.

"Proud to finally announce that I joined OceanGate Expeditions for their RMS TITANIC Mission as a mission specialist on the sub going down to the Titanic," he stated.

Other Prominent Explorers on Board

Shahzada Dawood and his son, Sulaiman, also verified to be on board the submersible, are distinguished figures in the Pakistani business landscape.

The Dawoods, owners of the Dawood Hercules Corporation, a major conglomerate with a diverse portfolio, had expressed their eagerness to embark on this "journey to visit the remnants of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean."

Joining Harding and the Dawoods was Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French diver with decades of experience exploring the Titanic wreckage.

As the director of underwater research at RMS Titanic Inc., Nargeolet has successfully recovered thousands of artifacts from the historic ship, underscoring his expertise in the field.

Community Reacts

David Gallo, senior adviser for strategic initiatives at RMS Titanic Inc., praised Nargeolet as the "best" at deep-sea exploration and affirmed that "everything that can be done, is being done."

Patrick Woodhead, founder of British tour operator White Desert Antarctica, admired Harding's incredible aviation exploration prowess, adding that his thoughts and prayers were with Linda, Harding's wife, and their sons.
