Clothing Empire Mango Founder’s Death Investigation, Son Faces Homicide

Clothing Empire Mango

The billionaire founder of the Clothing Empire Mango, Isak Andic, reportedly planned to change his will shortly before his shocking death in December 2024 — a revelation now central to an expanding homicide investigation involving his son, Jonathan Andic.

Spanish authorities arrested Jonathan Andic this week on suspicion of murdering his 71-year-old father after investigators uncovered what they described as significant inconsistencies surrounding the fatal incident. Isak Andic died after plunging roughly 500 feet from a cliff near Montserrat National Park during a hiking trip with his son.

Although Jonathan Andic has not yet been formally charged, a judge reportedly concluded there was “sufficient evidence to consider the suspect criminally responsible for the offense of homicide.”

The investigation has now placed one of Spain’s wealthiest and most influential business families under intense international scrutiny.

Clothing Empire Mango Mogul’s Death Initially Ruled an Accident

Isak Andic, founder of the global fashion retailer Mango, died on Dec. 14, 2024, during what was initially believed to be a tragic hiking accident.

According to investigators, Andic and his son were walking along a relatively easy route in Montserrat National Park, a popular tourist destination frequently visited by families and school groups.

However, investigators later began questioning the circumstances surrounding the fall after forensic evidence reportedly failed to support the theory that the billionaire simply slipped.

Authorities stated that Andic’s injuries appeared inconsistent with an accidental fall. According to findings cited by multiple reports, forensic experts concluded it looked “as if he had launched himself down a slide, feet first.”

More information about the fashion company can be found at Mango Official Website.

Investigators Cite Contradictions in Son’s Statements

The case reportedly intensified after authorities identified inconsistencies in Jonathan Andic’s version of events.

According to court documents referenced by media outlets including BBC News and The Wall Street Journal, Jonathan initially claimed he was walking ahead of his father and did not witness the fall.

Later, investigators said he changed his account and claimed the two men were walking side-by-side when the incident occurred.

Authorities also questioned Jonathan’s statement that his father had been using his cellphone to take photographs moments before the fall. Investigators reportedly recovered Isak Andic’s phone inside his pocket when his body was found.

Another detail that raised suspicion involved Jonathan’s own cellphone. He allegedly reported the device stolen during a trip to Ecuador around the same period that renewed public attention focused on the case in late 2025.

Possible Motive in Founder's Death of Clothing Empire Mango

The judge’s report reportedly noted that Jonathan Andic learned in mid-2024 that his father intended to revise his will and establish a charitable foundation aimed at helping disadvantaged people.

Investigators believe that revelation may have created tension within the family.

Court findings reportedly described the relationship between father and son as strained, adding that Jonathan later attempted to reconnect with his father by proposing the hiking trip where the fatal incident occurred.

Authorities also found it suspicious that Jonathan allegedly made three separate visits to the hiking site during the week before his father’s death. Investigators suggested the visits may have involved “planning and study of the site.”

No official motive has yet been announced by prosecutors.

One of Spain’s Richest Families Faces Growing Scrutiny

Jonathan Andic, now chairman of the family holding company, was released after posting bail reportedly set at approximately $1.16 million.

If formally charged with homicide, he could eventually face a jury trial in Spain.

The investigation has generated enormous media attention because of the Andic family’s wealth and influence. At the time of his death, Forbes estimated Isak Andic’s net worth at approximately $4.5 billion.

Born into a Jewish family in Turkey before later building his fortune in Spain, Andic transformed Mango into one of Europe’s most successful international fashion brands.

Financial details about Mango and global retail rankings are available through Forbes.

As investigators continue examining forensic evidence and witness testimony, the mysterious death of the Mango founder remains one of Europe’s most closely watched criminal investigations.
