Multiple senior officials in the FBI were given an ultimatum: resign or be fired. President Donald Trump’s administration initiated a sweeping FBI purge, with the aid of other federal law enforcement agencies.
This administration targets officials believed to have been involved in politically motivated prosecutions. Trump insists that this move is necessary to root out corruption within the FBI, which he accuses of waging “lawfare” against him since his first term.
From the infamous “Russia Hoax” to alleged unlawful surveillance of individuals present in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021, Trump contends that the FBI has been a weaponized agency, enforcing political persecution rather than justice. Now, with his return to office, he is taking decisive action.
Senior FBI Officials Forced Out
According to reports, at least six senior FBI leaders were instructed to retire, resign, or face termination. CNN and The Washington Post have confirmed that these officials, including executive assistant directors and top agents in field offices, were notified on Thursday.
