The Hunter Biden pardon did not surprise insiders. Although Joe Biden had been insisting for months, he would never pardon his son, Hunter. On Sunday the President issued a statement detailing the controversial pardon.
Hunter’s legal teams filed notification motions in courts in Delaware and Los Angeles.
They are requesting that all cases must now be dismissed.
The statement was released as Biden prepared to travel to Africa, has ignited fierce political debates and public scrutiny.
Presidential Justification: “Politically Tinged” Charges
In a written statement, President Biden explained his decision, claiming that the charges against Hunter were politically motivated and designed to harm both him and his son.
“The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.”
Biden said. “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong.”
