The alarm was raised as shoppers across Texas and multiple other states learned that a range of widely sold flavors from Straus Family Creamery are being pulled from shelves, including products already in circulation at major retailers such as Whole Foods Market, Kroger, and Sprouts Farmers Market.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Straus Family Creamery’s organic ice cream products have been recalled due to the possible presence of metal fragments, a contamination risk that has sparked immediate action across the distribution chain.

The Northern California creamery confirmed the recall involves “a small number of production runs” after the issue was identified, affecting items that began appearing in stores starting May 4.

The company distributes to major national retailers, amplifying concerns as the recall spreads across multiple states.

The recall includes five specific products that consumers may already have in their freezers:

Strawberry quarts and pints
Cookie dough pints
Dutch chocolate quarts
Mint chip pints

Company officials said they immediately began coordinating with retailers to remove the affected ice cream from store shelves as soon as the issue was discovered.
