In a major diplomatic development, Iran Agreed to US Demands, according to President Donald Trump, who announced Thursday that Tehran has committed to never developing or purchasing a nuclear weapon as part of a new agreement expected to be signed within days.

The deal should end the US War with Iran that is taking place in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran Agreed to US Nuclear Demands

The breakthrough follows months of negotiations and could mark a significant turning point in U.S.-Iran relations, regional stability, and global energy markets.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump described the agreement as a historic achievement that could pave the way for broader negotiations on Iran’s nuclear activities, missile program, and support for regional proxy groups.

“We just made a great settlement of the war with Iran,” Trump said. “We’re going to be subject to finalization of documents; we should get done over the next few days.”

He emphasized that the central objective of the agreement is Iran’s pledge to permanently forgo nuclear weapons.

“[Iran] will not purchase, develop in any way, shape, or form, a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “They will not have a nuclear weapon.”

Nuclear Agreement Marks Major Milestone

According to Trump, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) lays the groundwork for a new round of nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

The agreement reportedly includes a commitment by Iran not to pursue nuclear warheads. However, U.S. officials have indicated that future negotiations will focus on ensuring those commitments are enforceable and verifiable.

Additional talks are expected to address Iran’s uranium enrichment activities, remaining nuclear materials, and the future of facilities linked to the country’s nuclear program.

The deal follows years of tension surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions and comes more than a decade after the controversial 2015 nuclear accord negotiated during the administration of former President Barack Obama.

Strait of Hormuz Reopening Impacts Global Markets

Another significant component of the agreement involves the reopening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Trump announced that Iran has agreed to reopen the waterway during a 60-day cease-fire and negotiation period. The strait serves as one of the world's most critical maritime routes for oil shipments and international trade.

The president stated that the U.S. naval blockade would remain in effect until the agreement is formally signed.

“The Naval Blockade will remain in full force and effect until this Transaction is finalized,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz could have substantial implications for global energy prices. Trump predicted that oil prices would decline significantly once commercial shipping resumes normal operations through the corridor.

The waterway has been the subject of international concern in recent weeks after Iran reportedly established a mechanism to charge fees for vessels passing through the route. The United States and several allies have argued that the strait constitutes international waters and should remain open to unrestricted navigation.

After Iran Agreed to US Israel Seeks Additional Guarantees

Trump also spoke with Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the emerging agreement.

According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, Israel supports efforts to secure additional concessions from Iran during the next phase of negotiations.

These issues include:

  • Removal of enriched nuclear material
  • Dismantling of enrichment infrastructure
  • Limits on missile production
  • Ending support for groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis

Israeli officials have long maintained that any lasting agreement must address both nuclear concerns and Iran’s broader regional influence.

Economic Relief Remains a Key Issue

One of the most complex aspects of the negotiations involves potential economic incentives for Iran.

Iran has repeatedly sought access to frozen assets and relief from U.S. sanctions. While American officials have expressed openness to discussing the release of certain funds, the timing and conditions remain unresolved.

Sources familiar with the negotiations have indicated that the primary disagreements center on the sequence of actions rather than the substance of the deal itself.

Marco Rubio to Monitor Iran Nuclear Program

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has previously stated that meaningful sanctions relief would depend on Iran taking verifiable steps to alter its nuclear program.

As a result, sanctions relief may emerge as part of future negotiations rather than as an immediate benefit under the current agreement.

Additional information regarding U.S. sanctions programs is available through U.S. Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Iran Agreed to US Demands: What Next?

The agreement is expected to be formally signed as early as this weekend. Trump indicated that Vice President JD Vance could travel overseas to participate in the signing ceremony.

Since Iran agreed to US demands the Trump has promised to end the Naval Blockade.

While many details remain unresolved, the agreement represents a significant diplomatic breakthrough after months of negotiations and escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The coming weeks will determine whether the initial commitments can be transformed into a comprehensive framework addressing nuclear safeguards, regional security concerns, sanctions relief, and economic cooperation.

If successful, the deal could reshape relations between Washington and Tehran while reducing one of the world's most persistent geopolitical flashpoints.
