Iranian Billboards Targeting Trump Intensify as Strait of Hormuz Conflict Escalates

Busy city street with a large curved billboard covered in white cursive slogans, including ‘TRUMP’, as a woman in a black chador walks by among passing cars and motorcycles.

New Iranian billboards displayed in Tehran targeting President Donald Trump have added to mounting tensions between the United States and Iran. The fighting continues around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and both sides exchange increasingly sharp warnings.

The latest billboard, installed in Tehran's busy Valiasr Square, features the English phrase, "Who is D nexT one?" with the letters "D" and "T" emphasized, an apparent reference to President Trump.

The display also includes the hashtag "#LindseyGraham" and appeared shortly after the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of Iran's most outspoken critics. Iranian state media and organizations linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have circulated similar messaging in recent days, reflecting an increasingly confrontational public campaign.

Series of Iranian Billboards Display Threats

The Valiasr Square billboard is the latest in a series of state-linked displays that have drawn international attention.

Earlier in the week, another large billboard erected in Tehran's Enghelab Square depicted Trump inside a black coffin alongside Persian-language text threatening him.

A separate display at Palestine Square featured images of several members of the Trump family positioned above coffins draped with American flags. In addition, Iran's state-affiliated Fars News Agency briefly published an English-language video that purported to show President Trump's motorcade route to his Mar-a-Lago residence before the video was removed from social media.

The billboards have been attributed to the Owj Arts and Media Organization, an organization affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that has frequently produced messaging supporting the country's hardline positions.

Leaders Issue New Warnings on Iranian Billboards

The public displays have been accompanied by increasingly forceful rhetoric from Iranian officials.

Following the funeral of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's current supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned that the United States would face "unforgettable lessons" if military operations against Iran continued. Iranian officials have also described the Strait of Hormuz as a "red line" and warned they would respond to further U.S. attacks on Iranian infrastructure or territory.

President Trump has responded by demanding assurances that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remain open, while warning Iran against targeting U.S. personnel or disrupting international maritime traffic.

Fighting Around the Strait of Hormuz

Military operations around the Strait of Hormuz have intensified following the collapse of an interim ceasefire.

The United States has launched renewed airstrikes against Iranian military targets after Iranian attacks killed two U.S. service members and injured others. According to U.S. Central Command, the strikes targeted facilities associated with Iran's military infrastructure and its ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Gulf.

Impacts to Military and Shipping

Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in several Gulf nations, including installations in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait, while continuing to threaten additional retaliation if military pressure persists.

The conflict has also affected international shipping. Commercial vessels have faced heightened security risks while navigating the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy chokepoints.

Roughly one-fifth of global seaborne oil supplies normally pass through the narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.

Several shipping companies have reportedly delayed or altered voyages because of attacks on vessels and growing concerns over maritime security, while the U.S. military has escorted some commercial ships through the region.

Iranian Billboards Threaten and Global Concerns Continue to Grow

The escalating exchange of military strikes, political rhetoric and public propaganda has raised concerns among U.S. allies and Gulf nations about the possibility of a broader regional conflict.

Diplomatic efforts led by regional mediators continue, but repeated attacks, competing military operations and increasingly hostile public messaging on Iranian billboards have complicated negotiations aimed at restoring stability.

Security analysts warn that prolonged disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz could have far-reaching consequences for global energy markets, commercial shipping and international trade, making the region one of the world's most closely watched geopolitical flashpoints.
