A chilling handwritten note allegedly penned by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein before his death in federal custody has now been made public after years under court seal, reigniting intense scrutiny over one of the most controversial deaths in recent memory.

The document, released Wednesday by a federal judge, contains defiant and emotional statements that prosecutors and investigators never previously disclosed publicly while conspiracy theories and unanswered questions surrounding Epstein’s 2019 death continued to spread worldwide.

“FOUND NOTHING!!”

“They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!,” the note reads, adding that the allegations dated back years.

“It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye,” the note continues. “Watcha want me to do — Bust out cryin'!! NO FUN — NOT WORTH IT!!”

The note was reportedly discovered by Epstein’s former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, and had remained sealed for years despite massive public interest in Epstein’s case and death.

The existence of the message first surfaced publicly last week when The New York Times reported on references buried inside the millions of pages of Epstein-related material released earlier this year by the Justice Department.

According to Tartaglione, he found the note in July 2019 after an earlier jail incident in which Epstein was discovered unresponsive inside his cell.

Epstein survived that episode.

Weeks later, he was found dead in a Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Authorities ruled the death a suicide, though the case has remained the center of relentless public skepticism, investigations, and speculation ever since.

Federal Judge Orders Release

Kenneth M. Karas, the U.S. District Judge overseeing a criminal case involving Tartaglione, ordered the document unsealed after a request from The New York Times.

The release comes even after the Justice Department previously disclosed millions of records tied to Epstein’s criminal investigation, with the handwritten note notably absent from those files until now.

Lawyers representing Tartaglione have said they authenticated the note, though they have not clarified exactly how they verified it. No court or investigative agency has formally confirmed the document’s authenticity.

The note itself is handwritten across a single sheet of lined paper.

Tartaglione, a former police officer charged in a quadruple homicide case, said during a podcast appearance last year that he turned the note over to an attorney, who later provided it to the judge overseeing his criminal proceedings.

That judge sealed the document at the time but later agreed to release it publicly following the Times’ request.

Epstein Case Still Haunts Victims and Investigators

Epstein’s criminal history stretches back decades and continues to cast a long shadow over powerful institutions, wealthy associates, and law enforcement failures.

In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to two prostitution-related charges, including one involving a minor.

He was arrested again in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges tied to allegations that he abused and trafficked underage girls for years.

Judges and lawmakers have stated that Epstein abused, trafficked, and molested scores of girls over decades, with many victims later speaking publicly in court proceedings and other forums about the lasting damage they suffered.

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
