When Joe Biden started running for president in the 2020 election, his allies worked overtime to paint him in the best possible light. Biden was branded as a folksy, loving family man and moderate Democrat who just wanted to make life fair for all Americans.

Unfortunately, this is not the case at all. Though more troubling than Biden's controversial politics is how he truly handles his family.

As many Americans are aware of, the president's son, Hunter Biden, fathered daughter Navy Joan with a woman named Lunden Roberts. Hunter has also worked overtime to lower his child support payments and deny Navy Joan the Biden surname.

At the same time, the president himself won't even acknowledge Navy's existence. It's this denial that many Americans of all political stripes are raising concerns about.

Not such a family man, after all

The president has repeatedly talked about how much he loves his "six" grandchildren. Though many folks make the case that if Biden truly was this good family man, he would acknowledge that he has seven grandchildren, with Navy Joan being the youngest.

This is a sensitive matter that Republicans and Democrats alike have called out. Republican Meghan McCain, whose family has been very close with Biden (at least in previous years), rightfully branded the president's refusal to acknowledge his seventh grandchild as "abhorrent."

Meanwhile, an op-ed in the moderately left-leaning New York Times also reminded Biden that he has seven grandchildren, not six. Maureen Dowd, the author of the piece, truly held the president's feet to the fire.

She reminded readers that Biden talks extensively about the importance of family. Yet, his love of family apparently isn't stopping him from "scarring" his youngest granddaughter, Dowd pointed out.

Biden's chances in the 2024 presidential election

Currently, Biden is campaigning for a second term in the Oval Office. Though given that his administration keeps going out of its way to deny Navy Joan's existence, the president can expect to face more criticism over this matter.

If Biden really cared about family, America wouldn't have to scold him for denying the existence of his own flesh and blood.
