On Monday, Judge William Orrick halted President Trump’s moves to cut funding for sanctuary cities that refuse to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to combat illegal immigration, as reported by CNN.

Further Details about the Judge’s Ruling

Firstly, Judge Orrick’s ruling followed after two California counties sued the President for moving to cut funds from sanctuary cities. They claimed it to be an unconstitutional order and apparently Judge Orrick shared this viewpoint.

Had the President’s order come to fruition, the U.S. government would’ve “strip[ped] federal grant money from the sanctuary states and cities that harbor illegal immigrants.
