On Monday police announced that their investigators are questioning a man 26-year-old man detained in connection to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. New York detectives claim it is “too soon to determine if his case is connected to the death” of Thompson. But all indications are that the manhunt is over.
An Ambush in Midtown
Thompson, 50, was gunned down on a busy Manhattan Street as he walked to a meeting. The murder had all the earmarks of a professional hit.
His killer left behind inscribed bullet casings that read “deny,” defend,” and “depose.” It is believed he left a backpack that was stuffed with monopoly cash in Central Park. Those items were likely intentionally left behind.
Authorities say the alleged killer was hiding out in a local hostel, where he allegedly checked in using a fake New Jersey ID and paid for his stay in cash.
Massive Manhunt Across New York
Last week the police released photos of him that were captured by security cameras. The photos were widely distributed in the massive manhunt.
