Emergency call leads officers to deadly scene

At approximately 5:27 a.m. on April 27, officers from Howard County Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 6700 block of Alexander Bell Drive, inside a parking garage where an illegal car rally had been taking place.

When officers arrived, they discovered an adult man suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the first confirmed death linked to the incident.

Nearby, an adult woman was also located and transported for medical treatment. Officials said her injuries were not life-threatening.

Multiple victims surface across different hospitals

As the investigation unfolded like scattered puzzle pieces coming together, four additional victims independently arrived at local hospitals with gunshot wounds.

In a separate development, another individual connected to the incident sought treatment at a hospital in Virginia. Authorities confirmed that this victim also sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police later stated that all additional injuries appear to be non-life-threatening and are believed to be connected to the same shooting incident.

Investigation points to organized gathering

Detectives believe the shooting took place during a gathering of illegal street racing or car rally participants, many of whom were reportedly familiar with one another.

Authorities also indicated that a significant number of those involved were not residents of Howard County, suggesting participants had traveled into the area for the event.
