Police identifies suspects involve in vehicle chase, fatal shooting in Jefferson City, Missouri

The Jefferson City Police Department (JCPD) in Missouri identified the suspects in a vehicle chase that led to a fatal shooting on Wednesday night.

According to the JCPD, the two suspects were Anthony J. Wilson, 28, and Jamie T. Williams, 27, both residents of Jefferson City. Wilson and Williams were on federal supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On Wednesday night, officers investigated a weapons offense after they spotted a vehicle connected with previous incidents where multiple shots were fired, according to police reports.

The officers tried a traffic stop but Williams who was driving the vehicle kept on driving, which prompted them to chase the vehicle. The pursuit ended near the Community Park in the area of East Atchison and Jackson streets where the suspects escaped on foot.

The pursuing officers followed the suspects into a wooded area. One of the officers and Wilson brawled. The suspect took out his concealed handgun. He fired on officers and injured one of them on the chest. Wilson was fatally shot by a second officer who fired back at him.

Suspects in the fatal shooting have an extensive criminal history

Authorities said Wilson “has an extensive history in multiple states. On Wednesday night, he used a gun that was stolen during a burglary in Jefferson City in December 2019. He was wanted for his involvement in several calls regarding shootings on April 14.
