Earlier today, President Trump criticized an opposition movement known as The Resistance, according to The Hill.

An Overview of The Resistance and President Trump's Statements

Since the inception of Trump's time in office, a segment of Americans have vowed to oppose his policies, behavior, and Presidency. This group furthermore branded themselves as "The Resistance." Conservatives and Trump supporters alike have criticized the left-leaning opposition and dismissed them as obstructionists who detest America.

The Resistance and their allies are not backing down, however. According to many on the left, they oppose Trump because of their love for America. Ultimately, both sides each have their own notions of President Trump, his policies, and the direction in which the country is headed.

The President also has his own ideas and opinions. Earlier today, Trump blasted Democrats and The Resistance during his weekly address.

His specific statements furthermore read as follows:

"From day one, Senate Democrats have shamelessly obstructed, stalled, and filibustered the confirmations of hundreds of talented men and women who are eager to come to Washington, D.C., to make a difference. They want to serve our country."

Finally, President Trump expressed concerns that Congressional members of The Resistance are intentionally blocking the success of his policies and reform measures:

"They have blocked every effort to close deadly loopholes, to keep out vicious criminals, and to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs. They are a disaster at the border. These actions are endangering our citizens, threatening our communities, and undermining our national security."

A Divided America

The 2016 Presidential race arguably served as one of the most divisive elections in modern history. Unfortunately, the aforementioned division remains alive and well even to this day. Republicans and Democrats alike moreover continue to blame each other for various entities and policies which they deem as problematic.

Overall, The Resistance has clearly stated that their objective is to work against the President. Many Democrats also ceaselessly called for Trump's impeachment on multiple occasions.

As the national infighting continues, some Americans have vocalized their wishes for both sides to work together. However, to certain people, unity and togetherness in today's climate appears quite far away.
