“I walk in with multiple weapons and not a single person there considers the possibility that I could be a threat,” he reportedly wrote, according to the New York Post. The message also expressed hostility toward Trump and his administration.

The incident comes less than two years after Trump was the target of an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania and a separate threat in Florida.

Officials emphasized that the swift response by security personnel prevented a much more serious outcome. The suspect was stopped before entering the main ballroom.

Only one injury was reported—a law enforcement officer who was struck by a bullet but protected from serious harm by a bulletproof vest.
