Selma Blair, the actress known for her roles in Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and The Sweetest Thing, is facing renewed public scrutiny. There have been reports of an alleged violent incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight on Oct. 11, 2026.

According to published reports, Blair was arrested after allegedly biting a flight attendant, punching another crew member and later kicking a Port Authority police officer. The incident is reportedly under investigation by the FBI, and Blair’s representative said she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.

The allegations have also renewed attention on Blair’s personal history, including unusual incidents she described in her 2022 memoir, “Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up.” However, the reported accusations remain allegations, and they should not be treated as established facts unless confirmed through the legal process.

Selma Blair’s Career in Hollywood

Born June 23, 1972, in Southfield, Michigan, Blair developed an impressive  career in film, television and independent productions. She became widely recognized in the late 1990s and early 2000s, establishing herself as a versatile performer capable of playing everything from sharp-tongued teenagers to complex dramatic characters.

One of her breakthrough performances came in the 1999 teen drama Cruel Intentions, in which she played Cecile Caldwell alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. The film helped establish Blair as a recognizable face in Hollywood.

She continued building her career with a memorable supporting role as Vivian Kensington in the 2001 comedy Legally Blonde, starring Witherspoon. Blair later appeared in films including The Sweetest Thing, A Guy Thing and Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Beyond comedy and romantic drama, Blair has taken on darker and more demanding roles. Her work has included independent films, television appearances and projects that explore complicated personal relationships.

Memoir Describes Previous Unusual Encounters

In her 2022 memoir, Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up, Blair recounted several unusual encounters in which she bit well-known figures during social interactions.

According to excerpts described in published reports, Blair wrote about biting actress Sienna Miller during an encounter at the Chateau Marmont in 2006. She also recalled biting Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, during a Las Vegas gathering in 2004.

Blair additionally described an incident involving supermodel Kate Moss after a Marc Jacobs fashion show in London. According to her account, Moss initially laughed when Blair bit her finger but reacted angrily when Blair did it again.

Blair characterized the behavior in her memoir as connected to feeling overwhelmed during social interactions. Her descriptions provide her perspective on those encounters but do not establish a medical explanation for the behavior.

Details of the Reported Delta Flight Incident

According to media reports, the Oct. 11 incident occurred aboard a Delta flight traveling toward John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Reports allege that Blair attacked flight attendants and attempted to open the aircraft door while the plane was in flight. The crew reportedly restrained her before the aircraft landed.

A pilot reportedly described the passenger as disruptive in communications with dispatchers. Additional reports allege that Blair kicked a Port Authority police officer while being transported by ambulance and later assaulted a nurse at a hospital.

Blair’s representative told Page Six that the actress experienced a medical emergency, received immediate medical attention after landing and was in stable condition.

Delta said the safety of passengers and crew members was its priority and that it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior.

The precise circumstances surrounding the reported incident, including the medical emergency cited by Blair’s representative, require careful examination as the investigation proceeds.

Multiple Sclerosis and Personal Challenges

Blair has spoken publicly about living with multiple sclerosis, a chronic neurological disease that affects the central nervous system. She announced her diagnosis in 2018 and has since discussed her experiences with treatment, disability and adapting to changes in her health.

Her openness about the condition has brought attention to the challenges faced by people living with chronic illness. Multiple sclerosis affects individuals differently, and a diagnosis alone does not establish the cause of any particular incident or behavior.

Blair’s representative attributed the reported flight incident to a medical emergency, but further verified information would be needed to establish what happened.

As authorities investigate, it is important to distinguish the reported allegations, the representative’s statement and any conclusions established through reliable evidence.

What Happens Next?

The FBI was reportedly investigating the incident following Blair’s arrest. News organizations have also reported possible criminal charges stemming from the alleged encounters with airline personnel and others.

The legal process will determine which allegations are supported by evidence and whether any charges proceed. Until then, the incident remains a developing story involving a prominent actress whose career has included both mainstream Hollywood successes and personal challenges documented in her memoir.

Blair’s filmography and public statements offer context about her life and career, but neither her past experiences nor her medical diagnosis should be used as a substitute for verified evidence about the reported incident.
