A late-night wave of terror rolled through Wichita, Kansas, during a nightclub shooting that left seven people injured.

In the 200 block of North Washington Street, a celebration was violently interrupted just before 1 a.m. by a shooting in Kansas.

According to the Wichita Police Department, this unfortunate incident in the City Nightz Old Town club resulted in seven gunshot victims.

To add to the gravity of the situation, two additional trauma victims emerged, injured in the ensuing stampede as terrified patrons scrambled for safety.

Investigation Underway, One Detained

The Wichita shooting continues to be meticulously investigated by local law enforcement.

Police have detained one person for questioning, though a clear suspect is yet to be identified in connection to this shooting in Kansas.

With the vicinity of the incident cordoned off for a good part of the early morning, the police presence in Wichita remains substantial.

City Nightz: A Recurring Scene of Violence?

Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan articulated public sentiment, expressing frustration over such incidents which disturb the peace and jeopardize public safety.

This Wichita shooting marks the 12th incident at City Nightz this year alone, pointing towards a recurring pattern of violence.

Earlier in May, police responded to a drive-by shooting near the same venue, post which discussions around safety practices with the club were initiated.

As investigations continue into this shooting in Kansas, authorities will assess any potential legal breaches by the club.

Revoking the club's license could be a future course of action if deemed necessary.
