LOS ANGELES, CA - The high-profile Derek Dixon v. Tyler Perry, et al. employment and sexual harassment case is heading into a pivotal procedural phase: a Case Management Conference (CMC) on October 15, 2025 in Los Angeles Superior Court. While not a merits hearing, the CMC often sets the tempo for how quickly—and how fairly—a case moves toward settlement discussions or trial.

Why this matters now

Dixon sued Perry and affiliated entities in June 2025, seeking substantial damages and alleging sexual harassment, assault, and retaliation tied to work on BET productions. Perry has denied the claims through counsel as “fabricated”, signaling a hard-fought defense. The CMC is the first formal docket control point since case assignment and will indicate how quickly the court expects progress on discovery, ADR, and trial readiness.

What actually happens at a CMC

In California civil cases, a CMC is an early status conference where counsel advise the court on case posture and logistics. Each party must file and serve the mandatory Case Management Statement (CM-110) no later than 15 days before the CMC—often a brief summary of the claims/defenses, discovery status, ADR plans, and estimated trial length.
