American law enforcement authorities are probing the recent violent explosion that is suspected to have occurred on a boat on the Haulover Sandbar in Miami, Florida, resulting in 11 injuries sustained from burns and trauma.

This event took place at this tourist hotspot famed for the presence of crystal clear, shallow water and lots of people over weekends. Responding quickly to the scene were emergency rescue workers of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, U.S. Coast Guard, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

It was revealed by Juan Arias, a battalion chief of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, that all 11 patients involved were taken to hospitals for medical attention.

Local boat charter captain Patrick Lee, who was nearby, described the chaotic scene to CBS News:

“We saw three people fly out of the boat. I just saw a lot of them with burns all over them… It is quick, but it’s high octane gasoline, and so a lot of them got burnt and it was an explosion.”

Dramatic video from the area showed a helicopter landing near the marina as emergency teams carried at least one injured person on a stretcher.

This terrifying incident has shocked visitors and residents alike at one of Miami’s most beloved weekend destinations. While the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, eyewitness accounts point to a powerful blast possibly fueled by gasoline.

Haulover Sandbar is typically a place for relaxation, boating, and leisure — making the sudden violence even more shocking. Officials have not yet released details about the boat involved or the condition of those injured.
