Harrisburg, PA— Anthony C. DeCusatis, an attorney with over four decades of experience in representing utilities companies and energy suppliers in regulatory and transactional matters, has returned from retirement to join Post & Schell PC's central Pennsylvania office. His appointment as counsel in the firm's energy and utilities practice group was announced Friday.

DeCusatis had previously retired from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in February 2023 after a remarkable 34-year tenure with the firm. In an email to Law360 Pulse, he explained his decision to join Post & Schell, citing the opportunity to continue representing clients who are major contributors to the economy.

"Post & Schell offered me the chance to carry on my practice with an exceptional group of lawyers who are highly focused on energy and utility regulation issues," DeCusatis noted. "This is a pivotal period for the energy and utility sectors, with transformative changes happening in technical, structural, and legal aspects."

DeCusatis specializes in guiding electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and oil pipeline utilities in regulatory, transactional, and tax matters. His legal practice covers various areas such as mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and project development and finance.

"Energy and utility companies face extensive regulation, necessitating close collaboration with state and federal regulators," DeCusatis emphasized. He aims to maintain his role as both a trusted advisor and experienced litigator in administrative and judicial proceedings for Post & Schell's clients.

His counsel extends to clients in proceedings involving rate-increase litigation, prudence reviews, certificate issuance, service complaints, and related-party transaction audits.

Acknowledging a Seasoned Expert

DeCusatis' experience with state and federal regulatory approvals for significant changes in energy and utility company structures has led him to participate in some of the industry's largest mergers and acquisitions. He expects to continue such work at Post & Schell.

DeCusatis earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1977 and an LL.M. in taxation from Temple University's Beasley School of Law in 1992. His career has been dedicated to energy and utility regulation, evolving in tandem with the industry.
