A 79 year old man stabbing case has led to murder charges after a Miami-Dade apartment became the center of a deadly investigation involving two family members found fatally wounded, authorities said.

Police arrested Jose Vidal on Friday on two counts of second-degree murder with a weapon, according to Miami-Dade jail records, following what investigators describe as a deeply conflicting account of events tied to a violent scene inside a northwest Miami-Dade residence.

Bike ride to hospital sparks confusion in investigation

According to an arrest report, Vidal arrived at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines after biking more than six miles from his apartment located in the 17500 block of Northwest 67th Place.

Once at the hospital, investigators say Vidal gave inconsistent explanations to different individuals about what occurred.

He reportedly told authorities that he returned to his apartment on April 19 and found the front door open, a detail that marked the beginning of a chain of events that would later raise more questions than answers.

Claims of attack and unconsciousness

Vidal told investigators he entered the apartment and was confronted by two men who allegedly attacked him, leading to a physical struggle that left him unconscious.

He claimed he remained unconscious until the following day, when he awoke injured and discovered he had been stabbed.

Inside the apartment, he also found his wife and stepson dead, according to the report.

Investigation continues as questions mount

Authorities have not released additional details about other possible suspects or a motive behind the killings. The conflicting statements provided by Vidal are now a key focus of the ongoing investigation.

What began as a quiet residential setting has now become the center of a complex and troubling case, as detectives work to determine what truly unfolded inside the apartment before Vidal’s hospital visit.
