Eighty years of frying chicken, and Chick-fil-A has never put waffles on the permanent menu. That changes August 24.

The fast-food chain announced a new limited-edition fall menu built around chicken, waffles, s'mores and syrup — anchored by a Chicken & Waffle sandwich that marks the first waffle item in the company's 80-year history, apart from a brief test run last year. It's a notable departure for a chain that has built its identity almost entirely around a single, unchanging chicken sandwich formula.

What's Actually in the Sandwich

The Chicken & Waffle sandwich sandwiches Chick-fil-A's signature filet between two maple-flavored waffles, layered with three strips of applewood-smoked bacon and a honey butter spread, served warm alongside a side of classic syrup. Customers can choose their preferred filet — Original, Spicy or Grilled — to build the sandwich their way.

It's available in two sizes depending on when you order. The breakfast version, built with a smaller filet and waffle, runs during standard breakfast hours from opening until 10:30 a.m. The entrée version, with a full-sized filet and waffle, takes over from 10:30 a.m. through closing. Pricing starts at $4.95 for breakfast and $7.59 for the entrée, though both vary by location.

According to the company, the sandwich brings together everything guests love about the sweet-and-savory classic, but with unmistakable Chick-fil-A flavor — an effort to reimagine a familiar diner staple through the chain's own lens rather than simply copying it.

The Drinks Get the S'mores Treatment

Two new beverages round out the fall lineup, both drawing inspiration from one of America's most beloved treats.

The S'mores Milkshake blends the chain's signature Icedream dessert with chocolate shortbread and graham cracker crumbles, finished with marshmallow-flavored syrup and marshmallow-flavored whipped topping. The S'mores Frosted Coffee takes a similar flavor profile in a different direction, combining cold-brewed coffee with marshmallow-flavored syrup and that same Icedream, chocolate shortbread and graham cracker crumble blend.

Why Now

The timing isn't accidental. Allison Duncan, Chick-fil-A's director of menu and packaging, explained the push behind this fall's menu as part of a broader effort to reimagine the comforting, nostalgic flavors guests associate with the season, rather than simply reintroducing old favorites unchanged. She described the challenge internally as finding a playful, unexpected way to bring both chicken and waffles and s'mores — two genuinely beloved flavor combinations — onto the Chick-fil-A menu specifically.

Duncan added that the items performed well in limited test markets ahead of the wider rollout, which she said helped build internal confidence and anticipation for the national launch.

Part of a Bigger Anniversary Push

This fall menu doesn't exist in isolation — it's one piece of a much larger celebration. 2026 marks Chick-fil-A's 80th year in business, and the Georgia-based chain has built an entire yearlong campaign, dubbed "Newstalgia," around that milestone, which kicked off back in January.

The broader campaign is designed to pair beloved classics with fresh twists and unexpected guest experiences throughout the year — everything from permanent additions like Frosted Sodas and Floats to retro-themed packaging and merchandise, all built around honoring the company's 80-year heritage of quality, service and care.

What Happens Next

The Chicken & Waffle sandwich and its accompanying S'mores drinks begin rolling out nationwide August 24 for a limited time, giving fall menu fans a relatively narrow window to try Chick-fil-A's first real departure from its chicken-and-bun formula in eight decades of business.
