Over the course of the Trump presidency, various Americans who openly back the current administration have faced pushback. In certain cases, this pushback is quite literally physical. Within the past two years, various videos of Trump supporters having eggs thrown on them, getting their MAGA hats stolen, and even having drinks poured on them have made the rounds on social media. This form of political violence has not stopped with the arrival of the 2020 presidential election. In many ways, it's actually worsened; new reports claim that Trump supporters allegedly faced attacks during one of Elizabeth Warren's recent campaign events.

Everything You Need to Know about the Alleged Incident

The incident in questioned transpired on Thursday in Tempe, Arizona. Apparently, an unnamed male individual became involved in a physical altercation with Trump supporters and attempted to steal one of the supporters' cell phones. The pro-Trump people reportedly traveled to Warren's campaign event in order to protest socialism. Tempe Police reported that the man taken into custody will face multiple charges. These charges include "assault and disorderly conduct for confronting another subject at the event." When Trump supporters faced questions about their version of events, they claimed that Warren backers freaked out when they saw red MAGA hats. "We left peacefully, no problem. We respect the law. Liberals cannot keep their hands to themselves at these events. They see a Make America Great Again hat and they become unglued."

What's Causing Attacks on Trump Supporters?

Attacks on individuals who support the president are concerning to many Americans. Some people on the right-wing have stated that demonization of Trump supporters and even the media have played a role in this. Claims regarding this matter assert that when Trump supporters face demonization, this is dehumanizing and encourages violent acts. Others note that the media's lack of coverage on violence against Trump supporters also enables this type of behavior. Finally, only time will determine whether Trump supporters face additional attacks. Clashes at political rallies have also increased in frequency since the president's time in office. To many Americans, civility in spite of political dissent is sadly declining.
