Within the past several years, it's become more common for large companies to involve themselves in politics.

More often than not, when companies get political, their activism leans to the left of center. Naturally, this tends to alienate people who are not leftists.

Pushback against big businesses taking sides in politics has especially increased as partisan divides deepen in the United States.

One of the companies known for its left-wing politics is none other than Disney.

Disney has come out against Florida for passing a new bill regarding kids' education; this bill bars young children from receiving lessons about the politics of gender and sex in classrooms.

In the wake of controversy over this, Disney is now being urged by one of its shareholders to steer clear from making public proclamations about politics.

A message from one of Disney's shareholders

Disney shareholder Ray Keating recently told Fox News that he thinks Disney is doing more harm than good by involving itself in contentious politics.

According to Keating, Disney would be better off focusing on telling stories that touch the hearts of its audience. Likewise, the Disney shareholder stated the company essentially shot itself in the foot by giving in to pressure from left-wing activists.

Keating's statements come as the CEO of Disney has vocalized an interest in putting LGBTQ+ content in about half of its kids' programs going forward. This has led to criticism from people who believe small children shouldn't be learning about sex and gender politics.

Some parents have also gone on record saying they'll boycott Disney.

Bad news for Disney's shareholders?

Disney shareholders will very much feel an impact if the company's stock decreases in price and/or value. This is something that Keating is trying to keep from happening; although, Disney is certainly under a lot of fire as it stands now.

The passing of time will be what determines whether or not Disney follows the advice of at least one of its shareholders.

There are many Disney customers across the political spectrum. Yet, if the company persists in promoting left-wing politics, it'll end up losing a sizable amount of its audience.
