Reuters reported on Saturday that Vyacheslav Bohuslayev, the “honorary head” of Motor Sich has been detained on treason charges.

Security sources claim investigators had to break down the front door of the chairman's home. And conducted an evidence search of his property.

Journalist Iryna Romaliyska, said Boguslaev was known for his pro-Russian views. And is suspected of supplying Russia with parts for helicopters and planes. And having contacts with Russian special services which runs counterintelligence and intelligence-gathering for the invading forces.

Romaliyska claims the Ukraine-based oligarch is suspected of “supplying Russia unique details for screwdrivers and planes that are now bombing Ukraine.” 

Several Ukraine media outlets have confirmed that Boguslaev was transported from the city of Zaporizhzhia to Kyiv in a convoy.

The former member of parliament was also a past owner of Motor Sich. He is suspected of collaboration with Russian forces that still occupy parts of four Ukrainian regions.

Although the Zaporizhzhia region has been annexed by Russia, the city of Zaporizhzhia remains firmly under Ukrainian control.

Ukraine’s JSC Motor Sich, founded in 1907, designs and builds cruise missiles and turbo jet engines for planes, helicopters, and military vehicles.

The company is also one of the largest global military technologies companies. And it recently began engineering and producing satellites and cruise missiles.

For many years Motor Sich exported 75 percent of its engines to Russia which was their largest customer. And at its peak the company had over 29,000 employees. 

In 2014, in the wake of the first Russian invasion of Crimea the company was banned from doing business with Russia. And Motor Sich started doing business with China who maintained a partnership with Russia. 

In 2021, the Chinese made its second attempt to take over ownership of the company completely. 

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree, imposing sanctions on the Chinese.

And he announced that Ukraine was nationalizing Motor Sich and would buy back all shares from the Chinese.

According to Iryna Romaliyska’s Facebook post, Boguslaev also known as “The Red Director’ is a legend throughout Ukraine. And is one of the richest people in the country. 

He co-owned Motor Sich when Russia was still the USSR. And in 2014, as Motor Sich was nationalized, he was allowed to stay on as “honorary head.”

 Boguslaev has always been pro-Russian. In 2016, at an office in Bulgaria he hung posters claiming the company was "building the future together" in Russian tricolors. And in Bulgaria and other facilities he refused to hang the Ukrainian flag.

The Facebook post suggests the honorary head was running a shadow company. And the secret enterprise "somehow" ended up in The Red Director’s property.
