Mayor Adams, a Democrat, claims he is the target of political retribution, referring to the case as an example of “lawfare” being used to punish him for speaking out against federal policies.

Border Policy Criticism

The mayor has been vocal in his criticism of the Biden-Harris administration’s border policy, even traveling to the Texas border last year to highlight the impact on New York City.

Adams blamed the White House for the migrant crisis that has overwhelmed the city’s shelter system.

Additionally, he pointed to 2024 New York police data, claiming that illegal immigration has contributed to a recent spike in crime.
