Trump Gains Black Celebrity Support as Harris Struggles

Vice President Kamala Harris is struggling to win over Black male voters, while former President Donald Trump is gaining ground with the help of several high-profile Black male celebrities.
As election day approaches, Harris’ campaign is seeing a decline in support from Black men—a group that traditionally supports Democrats. A New York Times/Siena College poll showed Harris holding 78% of the Black vote, a drop from Biden’s 90% in 2020. Her support among Black men has fallen even more, with only 70% planning to vote for her, compared to Biden’s 85%.
According to recent polling, Trump has regained a slight lead over Harris, further fueling his momentum as election day draws near.
An NAACP survey found that one in four Black men under 50 plan to support Trump in 2024.
Black Celebrities Back Trump
Several Black male celebrities, from rappers to athletes, have endorsed Trump. Radio host Charlamagne Tha God and comedian Eddie Griffin both believe Trump has a unique appeal to Black men that Harris lacks.
Lord Jamar, a rapper from Brand Nubian, voiced his support for Trump during an interview on "The Art of Dialogue." He criticized Harris, saying, "Many people in the real world don’t like her. It’s not just Black men—Black women too."
Kodak Black, pardoned by Trump in 2021, has also shown his continued support. Although he briefly criticized Trump for comments about Haitian immigrants, Kodak attended a Trump rally in September to back him once again.
Trump’s Athlete Endorsements
Former NFL stars Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell appeared with Trump on stage at a Pennsylvania rally. Brown, wearing a red MAGA hat, led the crowd in a chant and voiced his support for Trump.
Football legend Lawrence Taylor also spoke at a Trump rally. He explained that meeting Trump caused him to leave the Democratic Party. "I grew up a Democrat, but after meeting Trump, I’m done with them."
Longtime Trump Supporters
Several other well-known figures continue to back Trump, including Herschel Walker, a former NFL running back who has supported Trump since 2016. Legendary boxing promoter Don King has also campaigned for Trump for years.
Mike Tyson expressed his support on a podcast, saying, "Trump’s going to win. I don’t agree with everything, but he’s a good man."
While 50 Cent hasn’t officially endorsed Trump, he recently said many Black men identify with Trump’s toughness, especially after seeing him raise his fist after an assassination attempt.
As Trump gains more support from Black male celebrities, Harris faces the challenge of winning back this key group of voters.
