Leading the effort is Laura F. Dogu, the top U.S. envoy in Venezuela, who arrived earlier this year to oversee the restoration of the embassy compound and prepare for the gradual return of staff.

Her team is working to bring the facility back to operational readiness and eventually resume full consular services, though some functions remain limited for now.

The United States shuttered its embassy in 2019 after relations collapsed when Washington recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidó as interim president, prompting Maduro to cut diplomatic ties.
