Apple is on track to create 20,000 more jobs in the United States by 2023. That’s according to an announcement the tech company made today. Although 2023 is far away, another closer date is bringing thousands of jobs to Austin, Texas, as Apple invests 1-billion dollars to expand their operation in the Lone Star State.

“Apple is proud to bring new investment, jobs and opportunity to cities across the United States and to significantly deepen our quarter-century partnership with the city and people of Austin,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Talent, creativity and tomorrow’s breakthrough ideas aren’t limited by region or zip code, and, with this new expansion, we’re redoubling our commitment to cultivating the high-tech sector and workforce nationwide.”

The 1-billion dollar investment will go towards building a new campus less than a mile away from the current Austin campus. It will be on 133 acres of land, and will house 5,000 employees, but the new campus will grow in the coming years to 15,000 new employees. The Governor of Texas says Apple’s investment is changing lives.
