He was carrying a suitcase that contained what is believed to be human flesh, as well as bloodstained clothing. According to Portuguese media, there are suspicions that Fernandes may have engaged in cannibalistic practices.

The meat is being analyzed in a Lisbon laboratory.

Fernandes is wanted in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Alan Lopes, who was found dead in his home in Amsterdam on February 28th.

Lopes shared the house with his mother and sister, who were away at the time of the murder. Fernandes is alleged to have been staying with the family, having been homeless prior to meeting Lopes.

Kamila Lopes, the victim’s sister, has told reporters that Fernandes would often stay with the family when he had nowhere else to go.
