A tragic boat crash off Cape Cod on Friday night claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl when the vessel she was aboard struck a jetty, according to Massachusetts State Police.

A Late-night Rescue Operation

At approximately 11 p.m., emergency teams from the local area and the United States Coast Guard initiated a search-and-rescue operation, following reports of a missing individual from a boat that had collided with a jetty off Cold Storage Beach roughly two hours prior.

The teenage victim’s body was tragically recovered from the water around 30 minutes later. Officials have yet to release the victim’s name. The recovery operation, undertaken by the Barnstable County dive team and the Dennis Fire Department, was fraught with urgency and sorrow.

The Cape Cod Boat Crash: Six People on Board

The fateful boat carried a total of six passengers, including the victim. Among the survivors, a teenage boy was transported to Cape Cod Hospital due to a head injury. The extent of his injuries remains undisclosed.
