The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) delivered a whistleblower complaint to the U.S. Congress on Wednesday.

The whistleblower complaint, which fueled an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump, was about his telephone conversation with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he requested a favor to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden’s son.

The White House also released a transcript of the call between Trump and Zelensky earlier on Wednesday.

According to CNBC, the DNI hand delivered the whistleblower complaint to a secure facility at the Capitol Building. A number of lawmakers including the leaders and members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees reviewed it.

Lawmakers find the whistleblower complaint “disturbing”

After reviewing the whistleblower complaint, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said, “I want to thank the whistleblower for coming forward. I found the allegations deeply disturbing and very credible. I can understand why the inspector general found them credible.”

On the other hand, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “All I’ll tell you is this. Two things: Number one; having read the documents in there, I’m even more worried about what happened than when I read the memorandum of the conversation. There are so many facts that have to be examined. It’s very troubling.”

Meanwhile, Republican Sen. Ben Sasse commented,  "There’s obviously lots that’s very troubling there.The administration ought not be attacking the whistleblower as some talking points suggest they plan to do." He added, , “Democrats ought not to be using the word impeach before they have the whistleblower complaint or before they read any of the transcript.”

Earlier this month, Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson informed Congress about a complaint that “met the definition of an urgent concern” and “appeared credible.”  However, Acting DNI Joseph Maguire did not forward it to Congress.

On Tuesday, the Senate approved a resolution demanding the Trump administration to hand over the full whistleblower complaint. The House also voted on a similar resolution on Wednesday.
