An event held on April 3rd at the "Bliss" nightclub in Washington D.C. both surprised and horrified some of the partygoers. The body which had been embalmed was reportedly propped standing upright on stage. And the disturbing images show he was wearing a crown, sneakers, jeans, and an Amiri hoodie.

News spread online that “The Last Show” featured the body of a dead rapper. And that Goonew had essentially attended his own wake.

Markelle Marrow, 24, who rapped under the name Goonew was shot and killed on March 18. And according to police, no one has been arrested for his death which took place in District Heights, Maryland.

The body of the popular local rapper was reportedly released to a funeral home following an autopsy. And the funeral home rented the Bliss for the wake.

There was some confusion since many of those present, that night thought the human body on display was a wax figure. And when pictures of the event went viral there was a lot more controversy.

Bliss apologized in response to the backlash with a statement.

They claim they rented out the venue to the funeral home with no notice that “Goonew’s home-going celebration” would involve the display of his body. And that management "wasn’t made aware of what would transpire.”

According to TMZ, Goonew's mother Patrice and his sister Ariana Morrow say they planned the memorial service exactly as the rapper would have wanted it. 

Goonew was standing up, because his mother didn't want anyone looking down on her son. And the rapper also known as the “King of Maryland” by his fans had a crown placed on his head for that reason.
